GETTING YOUR LTC IN MASSACHUSETTS

Most people think Massachusetts is anti-gun, and that it is very difficult to purchase one and own one in the state. The fact of the matter is, anyone can acquire one. There are two major components one must accomplish in getting his or her License to Carry or Federal Identification.

The first step is completing a basic Firearms Safety Course. You can take these with anyone registered with the Mass State Police to offer them. The courses are typically 3-4 hours of hands on, video, and text assessment of your basic understanding of firearms, the handling of firearms, and understanding how to safely possess one in your home around family and guests.

Once your certification is complete, you go to your city or town’s website and fill out the required paperwork your city put together. When you hand in the paperwork, you typically set up an appointment with one of the officers dedicated to the processing of the paperwork with the federal government, as well as of take your fingerprints. This is the best time to ask any questions you have about local laws.

Once this is completed, you wait approximately 6 months to receive your LTC and PIN. Once you have this, store your PIN in a safe space, and set a reminder to renew your LTC when it expires.

Below is the link to to the Massachusetts LTC Application. Once you have your safety course completed, fill this out and bring it to your local police department to apply. With any additional questions. Contact us.
